Day Ten of The Vampire Hunters Blog Tour: Full Moon Bites and Everyone loves a SiNner

Tonight, as my Halloween treat, Full Moon Bites and Everyone loves a SiNner both reviewed The Vampire Hunters.

Full Moon Bites gave the novel four stars and said: "It. Was. Really. Good.  It kind of reminded me of Buffy, the Vampire Slayer."  You can read the entire review here

Everyone loves a SiNner stated that The Vampire Hunters is "the best horror I have read in a while.  The vampires are actually scary.  Scott has brought back the true vampire pride."  You can read the entire review here.

In honor of Halloween, from now until midnight tonight Mayday Collective is giving away free advanced e-copies of their latest anthology: Hunger Pangs: Dark Confessions - Tales for Your Dining Pleasure.  It's an anthology on cannibalism during the zombie apocalypse (like being eaten by the living dead isn't worrisome enough) and contains my short story "The Hunger." Today's stop is with Keeping Up with the Rheinlanders. Melissa Rheinlander gave the novel four out of five stars and described it as "a very action packed horror read. Baker does a great job of creating a world full of scary vampires-monsters that need to be eliminated."  You can read the whole review here

The Fort Myers Downtowner's Review of Rotter World

In the run-up to ZombiCon 2012, The Fort Myers Downtowner, the city's local newspaper, ran several reviews of those authors who were to attend the event.  Below is their review of Rotter World, which they gave 4.5 out of 5 brains.

"In a refreshingly unique take on both genres, Rotter World cleverly combines zombies and vampires in this 'quest' adventure that's sure to keep your page-turning hand locked and loaded.  Eight months have passed since vampire released the Revanant Virus on mankind, nearly wiping out both species.  Mike Robson, part of a small band of humans and vampires, discovers their only hope of survival lies in obtaining a vaccine located in a secure underground facility five hundred miles away.  Mike and his group struggle through post-apocalyptic ruins infested with blood-thirsty zombies and brutal gangs of ruthless survivors, all while tip-toeing through uneasy tensions from the razor-thin truce between humans and vampires.  A heart-pumping gore-fest, Rotter World is a killer ride, and a stomach-churning page turner that any adventure-lover would die for."

Guest Posting on M.R. Gott's Blog Where the Dead Fear to Tread

Many thanks to M.R. Gott who allowed me today to guest post on his blog Where the Dead Fear to Tread as part of his Halloween Bash series.  My blog is titled "Trick or Treat" and is about why I like Halloween.  You can read it here.

Day Eight of The Vampire Hunters Blog Tour: Happy Tails and Tales

We resume the blog tour today with Happy Tails and Tales, which carried an excellent review of the novel as well as posted an interview with me.

Happy Tails and Tales called The Vampire Hunters a "gory, action packed, fantastic, seat defying thrill ride" and described the book as "Die Hard meets Dracula -- the original -- meets Charlie Angels."

You can check out the entire review and interview here.

Film Locations in Fort Myers from George Romero's Day of the Dead

While I was in Fort Myers, Florida, last weekend for ZombiCon 2012, one of the volunteers informed me that the festival originated in Fort Myers because that was where George Romero filmed the opening sequences for Day of the Dead (1985).  After I was done kicking myself for not knowing that, I decided the next morning on my way to the convention hall to check out some of the locations.  With the limited time I had available to research, I was only able to find a few of the locations.  Nonetheless, I posted them below along with the accompanying scene from the movie.  Hopefully I'll get a better set next year

Today my blog tour takes me to Identity Discovery and Queen of the Night Reviews, both of which reviewed The Vampire Hunters.

Although not a fan of horror fiction, Phaedra Seabolt, the reviewer for Identity Discovery, enjoyed the novel, calling it "well written and very entertaining without giving me nightmares."

Queen of the Night Reviews gave The Vampire Hunters four out of five stars and called the novel "a classic gothic tale on the vein of Dracula."

Please check out the full reviews.

Day Four of The Vampire Hunters Blog Tour: Beauty in Ruins

Join me today as Beauty in Ruins posts an excellent review of The Vampire Hunters.  Bob Milne enjoyed the novel, calling it a "classic" vampire story and a "kick-ass tale that borrows from the best of action, thriller, and horror genres."  He also notes the story is "violent, gruesome, and vulgar where it needs to be" (which, for me, is a compliment).  Please be sure to check it out.

Save the Evans City Cemetery Chapel

Gary Streiner and Russ "Johnny" Streiner have been attempting to raise funds to repair the Evans City Chapel, which appeared in the opening cemetery scene of George Romero's Night of the Living Dead (1968).  It is one of the only remaining landmarks from the movie and is currently in disrepair.  Unless $50,000 can be raised to renovate it, the structure will be torn down.  One of the fund raising efforts has been the publication of Stories from the Chapel, an anthology comprised of short fiction, poetry, and artwork dedicated to the Evans City Chapel.  All proceeds from the anthology go toward the restoration of the chapel.

I picked up a copy of the book at the InfectScranton convention two weeks ago and have really enjoyed it.  Everyone who has contributed to the anthology has done a great job, and have poured their hearts into the project. So please support a worthy cause as well as a dedicated group of amateur authors and artists by purchasing either a print version or the Kindle version of Stories of the Chapel

If you don't, then they'll be coming to get you.
